TRUCK DRIVERS ARE STILL IDIOTS

So, last night, our truck that was supposed to be here in Nowhere, North Carolina at 5pm calls at 5pm and informs me he is 300 miles away.

And of course it's a priority loading. They're all a priority loading. It matters not if you've worked 2 weeks straight for 12-15 hours a day. They want it loaded at 4am, if that is the case.

Of course, the driver sometimes comes in late, loads and goes down the street, pulls over, and sleeps. So really, what have you gained?

Still, we're in produce, so the concept of actual sleep is about as real as the concept of Bigfoot.

So. I'm on the phone all night with this dumbass driver, with the cellphone going out constantly, trying to get him into the farm.

I've gotten excellent compliments on my directions this year. I don't even live here and I've gotten guys into the farm from all directions. But in order to play this game, you have to be able to read and write.

This driver could do or spell neither.

He didn't follow my instructions. At 1am he was on the North Carolina coast at Wrightsville Beach. Overshot by an hour and half. He did this with me talking to him the whole time.

I finally got him into the farm just before 3am. Been a long night.

Truck drivers are idiots.
