Rest In Peace, George Carlin

Something very sad has happened and I feel like cussing.

George Carlin has passed away at the age of 71.

The Leeman feels this one, folks. George Carlin was one of the most brilliant, funniest people I ever heard in my life.

George Carlin actually cussed my mother out when she was working as a telephone operator at GTE back in Los Angeles in the 70’s. He later called her back and apologized. That shows how great George was, only he could cuss my mother out and instead of me wanting to kick his ass, I think it’s pretty cool.

I grew up listening to George. My parents hated him. That was enough to make me want to listen.

I remember the shock on my mother’s face when she found my TOLEDO WINDOW BOX album. On it, Geroge is wearing a shirt with a buncha pot leaves on it. Mom freaked, for that and various other reasons we won't get into here.

Good times.

There’s no way I can describe the love and respect I have for the man.

He was a great and insightful satirist, and absolutely brilliant in his comedic delivery. His wry observations on life, coupled with his calling-out of the hypocrisy of, well, just about everyone and everything, made him one of the most appealing comics I ever heard.

He bitched about EVERYTHING… but did it in a way that made you double over with laughter.

His material never got old because he could always find funny things about life and people… and then trash the living hell out of both.

Toledo Window Box.

Class Clown.

The seven words you can’t say on television.

Fucking brilliant.

He was a singular wit. A true original. A genius.

He shall be missed.

And boy, I bet God is getting an earful right now….
