Hi.Know I haven't been on the blog lately. Been busy being me.
I hate that I am coming back under these circumstances, but the geek in me is sad.
We lost one of the Great Ones today. Edward Woodward, The Equalizer.
See.... I'm a tremendous fan.
Because he was a tremendous actor. You can act, but it takes a Natural to bring charisma and presence to a role. Not many have the talent to acheive this. Woodward did it in spades.
I was a big fan of THE EQUALIZER. It is one of my favorite shows of all time, mostly because of the performance of this fine, fine actor. My parents thought I was nuts. How can our kid think this old guy is so cool? Well, he just was. Woodward's Robert McCall was one of the best characters ever to grace the screen. He was cool, man, he was just that damn cool.
He was great in any role he played, from Breaker Morant to Sherlock Holmes. Edward Woodward was THE MAN.
I have hoisted a cold Peroni in his honor this evening. And when I get home, I'm pulling out the 1st season of THE EQUALIZER on DVD and marveling at fine performance after fine damn performance from a true Original.GOT A PROBLEM?
ODDS AGAINST YOU?
CALL THE EQUALIZER.
He was great in other roles, Breaker Morant and The Wicker Man being standouts. Here's some sampling of a magnificent actor's career.
A nice tribute by the BBC is here, as long as the link lasts.
